Like many from my generation I’ve basically grown up with technology, for example i’ve been around for cassette tapes to iPod nanos and now iPods, the list is endless.
I can still hear the nightmarish sound of dial up internet ringing in my ears occasionally from accidentally picking up the phone while someone was just turning on the internet. Thankfully over the years technology has improved and blessed us with many great new things, wireless internet allowing us to connect anywhere anytime. Tiny little pocket computers, making it easier for people to work from where ever they are, however these great things have come at a cost and that cost is my childhood let me explain to you what I’m talking about.
Kermit the frog; Thats right people, the once ever so kind green frog that taught me my ABC has now become and absolute asshole, sipping tea like the pretension green man that his is.
90’s chokers; These were all the rage when I was growing up, everyone and their dog basically had one of those little tiny plastic weaved chokers. Now they represent a world of nope and put that thing back where it came from or so help me.
Shrek; They turned a harmful, warm hearted ogre into the second most terrifying thing I have ever laid my eyes on and if you have no idea what I’m talking about click here. I commend the person that thought this up, you my friend have some very deep dark secrets, but I’m not judging shrek is love, shrek is life.
My attention span; I’m sure I’m not the only person that has been affected by the six second videos and the one minute Instagram/Snapchat videos. My attention span has gone from being able to read a whole book in almost a day to not even finishing a Facebook video before scrolling through to the next.
and last but not least.
Tv shows; So many of you forget that people probably haven’t seen the most recent episode of what ever popular tv show is on at the moment and let me tell you before the internet was as big as it is now I never ever had to worry about the latest episode of anything being ruined. Now I cower in fear before opening social media when the last episode of a tv show has streamed.
