It’s offical, Starz’s American Gods has finally cast the three key roles we have been praying to know about for the upcoming season. We can rest easier knowing that the cast is almost complete, with just one member of the original god squad missing, our beloved Kristen Chenoweth (Easter).
First joining the American Gods, god squad is Dean Winters (Divorce, John Wick) who has been cast to play Mr. Town, a character those of you who have read the books will be familiar with. Mr. Town has been tasked by Mr. World (Crispin Glover) to find out what Shadow (Ricky Whittle) really knows about Mr. Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) plan. His brutal efficiency and technique just may get him the answers to his curious questions.
While Devery Jacobs (Cardinal, The Order) is set to play the infamous Sam Black Crow, the loveable college student who is oddly spiritually cynical for someone who claims to believe in so much. She lives life with fierce confidence and openness, selling the chainsaw art she carves by the roadside for extra money. Who most of us have been dying for her to join Shadow (Ricky Whittle) on his journey through Illinois.
With finally the news we’ve all been waiting for, Kahyun Kim (Shameless, Cassandra French’s Finishing School) has been cast as New Media, a successor rather than a replacement to the Media goddess character played by Gillian Anderson in Season 1. Kahyun’s take on the media will be more of a cyberspace chameleon who has mastered the art of manipulation. Rather then relying on the medias ability the change forms, Gaiman and Alexander decided to come up with a whole new concept for New media, to avoid any conflict surrounding Gillian’s departure from the show.
So there you have it American Gods fans your newest cast members, lets us know how you feel about your new god squad members – Are you excited to see the new take on the cyberspace goddess the media? and how do you feel about the casting of Sam Black crow?
